Description My two new renaissance Italian gents Dante (curly hair) and Andrea (straight hair) from this school assignment --> [link] I've taken a liking to these characters, so I'm gradually trying to spin some back stories and a plot line for them. In case there was any question as to whether or not they're romantically involved, I guess this about settles it. I don't usually post much sketch work, but I like this one and I don't have any digital images of any of my finished work right now. DX As I am apparently a master of composition, I managed to run both of their heads right off the edges of the page. I'd maybe like to finish this eventually if I have the time (<-- Lies. Lies and deception.)

I feel bad that I've just thought: "wow... if only by boyfriend worked out more" XD He does so many sports and has been sailing everyday since last saturday and I go ahead an think that! I blame your awesomeness at drawing such sexy manly men... and the fact I picked up a mildly girly bf... >_>;

Meiseki In reply to ambientradiation [2011-04-13 17:16:54 +0000 UTC]

Lol, Oh the side-effects of girly anime men... They just make reality seem so dismal... I'm sure if he keeps up that kind of workout, your boyfriend will develop a pretty physique. Haha, you were probably fortunate to find a nice semi-feminine one, since they seem to be sparse. XD

Thank you! I try to compensate for the pretty faces a little bit in the bodies, but that's about as far as I go in terms of masculinity.

I don't do masculine... I like shojo art with shonen action

Meiseki In reply to Erik-Tan [2011-04-15 05:43:02 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. I like gothic shoujo, as long as it's not too sparkly, with a lot of action and bloodshed. XD

Erik-Tan In reply to Meiseki [2011-04-18 11:27:04 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. Helsing is an exception to that rule though. It's not shojo art but it rocks

Meiseki In reply to Erik-Tan [2011-04-23 21:49:04 +0000 UTC]

That's definitely true. That art style is absolutely brimming with character. I actually tend to really love the few seinen anime that I've seen, but they just seem to be really elusive compared to the buckets and buckets of shounen and shoujo out there.

Erik-Tan In reply to Meiseki [2011-04-24 20:11:29 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's bcause a lot of marketers think that Shonen and Shojo sell. And they do, to the right audience. The cuteness of Shojo appeals to the younger, and possibly larger audience, so I get why there's a wave of them, but still

Oh, I know. The rate at which the studios churn out senseless moe drivel is downright frustrating. God forbid they ever put some effort into something with half a plot... >->;

Erik-Tan In reply to Meiseki [2011-05-01 16:29:35 +0000 UTC]

I think there's only a few shojos I actually like, and they're more mystery and action or suspense than shojo.. Vampire Knight I don't mind Personally, I think they got published by the wrong company... Instead of Shojo Beat, maybe something else

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meiseki In reply to Erik-Tan [2011-05-09 22:22:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah, do you think the publishing company presented it poorly? I like Kaori Yuki and Yuu Higuri because the shoujo they write tends to be darker than most and have at least a little grittiness to it. Not to mention that they draw from history pretty often as well. I like Kuroshitsuji for the same reasons, but that for some reason is commonly labeled as shounen even though it's blatantly, undeniably shoujo and has a primarily female fan base. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Erik-Tan In reply to Meiseki [2011-05-10 11:32:32 +0000 UTC]

That is true. Just for some reason Vampire Knight doesn't seem like a shojo... probably because of the darker elements to it. Shojo is more... mushy all the time. Full Moon wo Sagashite for example (although I don't mind it because it has some depth to it) I've also read Yuu Higuri's stuff and Kuroshitsuji and I will have to agree with you there--not many men are going to watch Grell plaster himself on Sebastian and get all starry-eyed and drool. (Fangirl roll call plz? Erik: Here! <3)
