Thank you for letting me know your choice. This has become a fun way to look out at the viewer.
It is the wonderful thing about art. There is always some kind of soul dialogue between the artist and anyone who takes time to look INTO it and not just glimpse at it.
Thanks for the compliment too.

Me too.
In comments under the other one, I explain what happened. She aged 40 years and insisted on plastic surgery, including the bee-sting lips. Haaa
I was TRYING to give THIS one an even happier, more peaceful face, to go with what I wanted to say in my journal. The harder I worked on it, with only a cheap eraser on hand, the more she went in the wrong direction.
Love that scanner. There are, in some cases, about 10 better paintings underneath the final ones in my gallery. I don't always know when to put the brush, or pencil, down.
Working with this chunky-gunkie chalk pencil tonight, this one is now only visible through the prints I can make of her. But YAY scanners!
That is why I went ahead and posted this one too. I like her better.
Being self-taught, boo-boos are my teacher.

I hear you -- I too struggle with knowing when to "put the brush, or pencil, down"; in my case it is a computer mouse. And. like you, I too am self-taught and my mistakes are my biggest teachers.

I remember last summer you had a bio on your profile that told a little of your prof job. I forgot you had described how you worked your way into your field by exploring and mastering your skills. [regarding your self-taught path]
As for knowing when something is finished, I guess we have to play with creativity, or she won't visit as often. She is no doubt easily bored unless there is some risk and adventure in the air.
And sometimes it's the music's fault.

Thank you. I like her best.
I tried to get her to smile. [She's from my imagination]...The submission just before this one is how she looks right now. I am probably going to work on her little finger. If I start again on the face, no telling...
The other one, which I ended up with, is one of those bee-sting lips looking women. Same drawing with slight changes. This is what I like about being able to scan, before trying to take a drawing further. Sometimes the one underneath ends up being the better one.
Oh well, it is in a artist sketch book. Guess learning is what those are for.

I like how the paper feels, almost cloth-like, though it is so thin that the drawings show through on the other side. I decided to include collages. They will go between the drawings pages. Just adds to how much I like it, because I enjoy the collages more and more.
I thought later, just a small thing, but this wasn't completely out of my imagination. I did start from a magazine picture source. An old ad torn out. I don't know how to give it proper credit, but I don't think it matters with our sketch books. And neither face looks like the face in the picture.
Anyway,,,It does make sense, what you say.
I may not bother with laboring over the hand. If it was going to go into a gallery I would do much more work on the hands. It was meant to express my feelings. Just turned out to be an interesting little "study" which is what our sketch books are for, right?
Thanks again for comments.
