Isabelle was a passive Simipour with a talent for design and often let Thomas get away with so much in their life together. While the two are such different people, they loved each other very much and that feeling was often questioned in terms of Thomas' behavior. Nobody knew quite like his wife did who he really was on the inside. Everything seemed to be so perfect for the young couple and when their first daughter Emmaline was born, they were sure they'd have a happy family and live that way for the rest of their days.

From the day she was born, she had grown up in the shadow of her older sister, whom was far more smart and lady-like as any proud parents would want. After Emma came into their lives, the two parents had slowly begun to build their lives--Isabelle often helped with trademark creations and fashionable design while Thomas worked at the bustling Global Trade Center. The two often weren't home for very long and when they were, it seemed that they were still busy. There were many gatherings, strangers to meet, people to be proper with. Emma was a proper daughter and one that her parents seemed to favor the most out of the two. While Lei knew her parents loved her, they only seemed to have eyes for her proper, more etiquette-inquired sibling. People enjoyed her company and adored her witty personality. She was jealous, no doubt the younger sister would feel she needed to look up to her older sister, but never once did she complain. Her Uncle Marcus, a passionately driven Pangoro that co-managed the Oreburgh Mines, had been the only one to have ever supported Lei during her years.
When she turned 13, Marcus had sent a letter with a surprising offer of the young daughter coming to live with him. It had seemed she wasn't the only one who really knew just how little her parents paid mind to her. Knowing that Emma had grown up with everything she wanted and leaving Lei to pick up any scraps left behind, Marcus made a promise to his niece to continually support her and everything she decided to do in life. Everything that her family had never given her.
Her parents were skeptical and letting Lei go was something they weren't fond of doing--but given the girl had decided and made her own choice to leave, they didn't say no. Maybe it hurt, just a little. But she was finally going to be with someone she had looked up to and counted on to tell of all her successions. Somewhere she knew she would be better off. Besides, it wasn't far away...if her parents ever wanted to see her, they could easily visit one another.

Due to his job and the many years of experience with Oreburgh's mines, money was no issue for either of them and Lei was able to enjoy the little things in life she had been unable to do with her own family. A year passed and the Simipour had reached the age where High School was a requirement and for years, Lei had her eyes on one particular place in Hearthome--St. Mortiel Academy. A prestigious school where the best students thrived. Despite having this dream, one where she felt she would be able to surpass her own sister if she graduated from such a school, she never thought she'd end up in such a hard-to-reach place...not without a scholarship at least. Her parents didn't make that kind of money and even if they had, she would never have asked. Anything she could have ever asked for in life was a distant memory. Her Uncle, however, surprised her with the application and the precious bag she now always carries with her. While simple, it meant a lot. She hardly could find it in her to accept the offer the Pangoro was giving her. Sure, he had the money to get her through the school and it didn't take long for him to convince her that she deserved it (or that he wouldn't take no for an answer).
Having learned so much from this kind, though slightly gruff man, Leilani took the opportunity he presented to her and headed for St. Mortiel, where she has spent her last 3 years. Even now, the family she left had tried to reach her again, bring her back to them, but to no avail. Lei had felt long unwound from her past and decided she never wanted to step foot into that part of her life again.
