Description
One of the first assignments for my Narrative Image class. The prompt was to write a short memoir and provide three illustrations for it. I chose to write on the theme of unexpected moments of delight, and this is the first of those illustrations - the first time I saw sea lions at a zoo aquarium.Related content

I love the flow of this piece and how the colour fade from aqua green to purplish blue. It feels so bold and calm at the same time.

*grin* They're AMAZING up close, aren't they? I had no idea how big or graceful they were until I saw them this summer. And then there was that little girl standing right up against the aquarium glass, as enthralled as I was, and perfectly showing the scale of them. I ran through several variations of this piece, but it always came down to the sea lions and the little girl in her white dress.

Yes! I like how you exaggerated the size difference between the girl and the animals to suggest that the sea lions are mystically huge. That's how they were when I first saw them. Kind of impossible creatures!
