What catches my eye is his legs. The proportioning seems off. My advice would be use some basic measuring to try and get the length of the legs to match up. The upper leg and lower leg should be equal in length. Bending the body and then making a straight on perspective is always tough to work out. I usually get friendly with the mirror and try to see how I look in that pose. I look for the basic shapes that make the pose. The forward foot seems maybe a bit unmatched and small. I think defining the heel more would help with connecting up with the leg.
You did a great job on his core and placing the armor around his shoulders. I also think the hands and fingers look nicely defined.
I can't say anything useful about the coloring. I am no good at digital coloring. I like how you brought out the shine in the armor and his hair. On his body, I will say that you should try a little deeper shading that helps define curves and depth more.
Hope this comment was more useful. If you have a sketch you'd like some words on feel free to ask

Admittedly the angle is hard for depicting the legs properly. As for the advice on how to get the legs right, I usually reference posemaniacs.com, which is in the case of this particular picture better than looking at a mirror - they guy would look more feminine if I modeled him after a female (aka, me). There's not much to do but try harder next time, though.
Thanks on the compliments on the other parts! Long comments (with meaning) are always nice to read. -u-

I just references myself so I don't have to hunt down the pose I want. Either way works though. Despite being a female I sill can't seem to draw good hips
Anyway glad I could sound helpful.

These are exactly the kinds of comments I hate; while it's an attempt at fair critique, it's too vague for me to have any idea what to correct in the picture. WHAT are these things that make the posing awkward, in your opinion? If I knew, I could maybe actually do something about them.

Just coming and saying it looks awkward doesn't help me at all; it just makes me feel like I did a mistake or two. So thanks for nothing, really.

Thank you on the comment on the colouring.

Well hey calm down. I didn't go into detail because I didn't want to sound like I was insulting you. I am thinking you put good effort into this one and you should be happy about it. Since you seem okay with some critiquing though I'll try to be more descriptive. I have tried posting things for help on my skills and I get just about no response, so I know the frustration. I have to head off too work, but I will stop by later and attempt a critique.

I guess I always sound more aggravated than I am in text form; I wasn't fuming mad or anything... It's just a reoccurring irritation to me, and while I am aware that you singurlarily aren't at fault for all the times I, or anyone else, receives such comments, I thought I should start now with the attempt at receiving better comments.

So I'm sorry if I sounded edgy. I was peeved, but not furious. Regardless, I did have a point on what I said.

And there's never, ever anything wrong with anything that's constructive - be it critique or anything else. It's it's beneficial, it's awesome. At least, in my opinion.

And! You don't have to trouble yourself - I'm a lazy commenter myself so I can relate with not bothering to drop off constructive critisism myself. And there's the fact that this was a commission; a work that was paid for and accepted by the byuer already. So I'm not going to be doing any changes to it, even if I get constructive critique. Then again, it might help with other similar pictures I might want to draw.

But you don't have to, if you don't want to. I was just against the kind of "you're doing it wrong. nice ty tho' " -comment for previously stated reasons.

Well I have been making a point to comment more, because I would like to receive more comments. I am not an awesome artist and I would like some useful critiquing. I am not sure I'll give a ton of help but I'll take a shot at critiquing this. Part of the reason I didn't say much is because this was a finished piece, but it may still help with future things.

Those are good principles! I recommend keeping it up; you do usually get what you give.

Well different artists have different opinions on receiving critique; I have one friend who gets mad from critique pretty much always, unless it comes from a certain person XD''

So the safest would be to ask if you can give critique to an artist, unless it's obvious somehow that they want it (they've enabled the button or asked in the description, etc)

I personally like and accept critique on all my works, as long as it's constructive. Though I might be a bit like "wat" if someone critiques something I did years ago. :'D

I try to keep my critique simple unless they ask for more. It's kinda important that critiquers stay constructive to avoid sounding cruel.
I'd like to receive some critiques. I could use advice on how to improve and a second opinion on how well I am doing.
