I honest-to-goodness cringed the first time though because I thought Ikamo was going to punch Hans or vice-versa. lolol

I get stuck in drawing the same thing in the same pose over and over again and it's maddening. I try to break free but I fall in the same pattern again. When I try to draw something else something goes wrong and I get frustrated and give up.

Huh, do things usually look too loose or too staged? Or what's usually the problem. I think I can offer a suggestion or two. (I've been there before like a hundred times.)

Usually too stiff or out of proportion. Tell me your secrets

First of all, use reference. Magazines cutouts whatever. Use them until you feel really good about the stuff and that will clear up proportion problems. You can even reference a picture and then hold the two up to a window and look to see what doesn't line up. Measure the differences in the spacing with your pencil and tweak accordingly. People tend to either tweak too much or two little. Neither is good, but try to air on the side of quicker so they don't look like they're stuck in carbonite.Β
If something is bothering you then you're either worrying too much or there's a problem. If it's nagging you figure out WHY.Β
Second, do quick sketches a lot. A ton of tiny poses with almost stick figures that aren't meant to be perfect, just have a ton of flowy motion and are reasonably proportioned like the ones from this tracyjb.deviantart.com/art/Lacβ¦ tutorial. This is a good way to shake the stiffness.Β
For the love of all things good, draw digitally. I can show you everything you need to know so that it won't look odd digitally when you start drawing. No pixel lines and junk like that. It would be my pleasure.Β
Lastly, draw from life some if you can, like doing fast sketches of people, just draw as much as you can, and somewhere in your mind be ready to ditch a piece and redraw it just a little better. People start getting into the mentality of erase and tweak and erase and tweak and end up with an overworked piece that they are loathe to repeat. Try to look at something and say, if I had to reduce this person to mere 3-D shapes or smooth lines, what would be off? And never set out with expectations. Just think "this'll be fun!"
I can elaborate infinitely on any of these. I'm no expert but I can certainly give advice that I've collected and tried out.
(Oh, and stuff is never as bad as we think it is.)
