i know, right? lol!

when i was first starting out with pastels, long time ago, (mind you i have a passion for paper) i knew there were all kinds of cool paper for pastels so i started looking at dickblick online. they have effing every thing (including iridescent/pearly) acrylic mediums.

anyway, i was poking around for paper on there (every now and then i decide to splurge on something, usually something i've never tried before) and i found the velour paper. holey moley, that paper is nice! feels like silk when you're putting pastels on it! it's really expensive, of course and it comes in a variety of neutral colors. it's about $2/sheet. another awesome one i found was sandstone paper. srsly! it was so cool for oil pastels and chalk pastels. it's archival and even more expensive. i've bought a few other cool pastels papers there, but those were the two most exotic.

i llloooovvvee shopping for art supplies!! and dickblick, i just have something in my cart all the time. not necessarily gonna pay, but i'll just keep it there in mah kart. sandstone paper sounds weird. when i sit down with an expensive sheet of paper or canvas or whatever, i always get a little nervous and excited. what do you draw on such expensive paper!? i have to admit, my sister took a paper making class and made me the most beautiful handmade papers way back in like the early 1990s and i still haven't used them because it's like too much pressure. i really ought to soon but i've been saying that for like 15 years.

thank you! i did sort of, lol! the movements of using pastels, especially these pan pastels, lends itself to working kind of fast and wild. at least for me...lol!

You're welcome. The best way to work I think...I've kind of started liking standing up when painting because I just feel like I can much more expressive with the lines.
