This image is striking because the high contrasts between darks and whites capture the attention. There's a foggy quality to this piece, we understand that it's a misty weather and that the focal point is at a long distance from the viewer's eye. The stairway is a good mean for leading us to this focal point and as it is in a middle tone area it is a link between the forest which is mainly dark and the architecture which is close to white.

But the branches that are detached on the clear background could have been more detailed, as it is an area where the eye wants to see things. So you should add details within the trees close to the stairway. The architecture thing could also be a bit more defined to be a bit more understandable and at some points make it pop a bit more by adding just a touch of value here and there.

For the colors I would perhaps have added more of a turquoise or blue green amongst the dark greens, but maybe it is just a question of personnal taste.

However in general this piece is well composed and make us wander to a magnificient landscape; we just want to see a bit more of it!
