This guy might be my earliest bro on the list - I'm not totally sure, but I do know that he goes back far enough to when wearing sunglasses made you instantly cool in my eyes!

Mega Man 5 is probably my least favorite in the series, but it'll always hold a special place in my heart because it's the first one I remember beating (It's possible I beat 7 first, but I don't remember it as vividly as 5). And Proto Man really does get to shine in that game, blasting the crap out of the impostor Proto Man and saving Mega Man and Dr. Light from a collapsing ceiling - it really cemented him as a badass in my eyes as a young kid. But even as an adult, I find him really interesting - his backstory with leaving Dr. Light and refusing to give up his free will is kind of a unique thing in the Mega Man universe, and I can't help but think that it draws parallels to the Reploids we'd later see in Mega Man X. I think what the Archie comics did with Proto Man and his origins was really great stuff!
