Let's face it; after fighting your rival in Red and Blue, the Champion of the Elite Four never quite had the same punch. Black and White came pretty damn close, but even then, you knew there was more waiting for you after you kicked the Elite four's asses. In Red and Blue, nobody in the entire game even mentions that there's anything beyond the Elite Four. When you beat Lance only to find that not only is there one more challenge waiting for you, but it's that asshole, your world crashes down around you only to rise up as wind at your back, propelling you forward to the last epic showdown. Lance, Steven, and even Cynthia here simply pale in comparison as final challengers.

That said, at least Cynthia was more of a presence in her game than the other two, and it helps that she has such a lovely design. I don't know what it is about her, maybe it's because most of the other girls from the series are younger in appearance, but she just seems so much more elegant and mature than most other Pokémon gals. She's just got one of those perfect designs that's pretty and bad-ass and classy and sexy all at the same time. As she's continued to appear in more and more Pokémon games, she's really become one of the most iconic champions, and I for one am not complaining.
