Since the demise of the vinyl album (although it has come back a bit) metal has been one of the few genres that has continued to embrace the close tie between art and music. Most of the great album covers today are from metal albums. I love the contrast between the flower and the skull - I think an important part of art is bringing together images which shouldn't work and making them work. Your choice of background gives it a real 3D effect.

I think you are at that age where you can experiment, build up your style and also build up a library of ideas. The songwriter Jimmy Webb recently said in an interview that the advice he would give to young songwriters was to always have a brief case of songs. I thing that advice applies to all art so the more you build up the better. Hopefully if you did any artwork for an band you would get some form of payment, but I think if you get the chance, take it. It is good promotion for you. One thing that is great about your work is that you have a good design sensibility to go with the artistry, and I think thatb sense of design will put you in a good place for getting profesional work later. Hold on to your dreams. I never thought my work would be seen outside my family and friends but her it is on the web. You have youth in your favour - go for it.
