Description After the violent insurrection against his father to take the Asifan throne, it wouldn't be until three years later that Carden Tariq would 'officially' take the throne of the desert kingdom after a failed coup saw his father finally slain and his forces either destroyed outright or turned to serve the new lord. In keeping with some Asifan traditions, the newly crowned Lord Tariq formed the 'Malikesh' as a dark reflection of the old Medjai -- a group of warriors and advisers second only to him and tasked with ensuring that his will was followed throughout the kingdom... by any means necessary.

From left to right:
Malikesh Khnemu: A tiefling warrior with a mastery over both khopesh and shield, he was one of the first to bend the knee to the new lord and would prove to be one of the more 'diplomatic' of the Malikesh in bringing the other cities of the kingdom under his lord's rule.
Malikesh Garai: One of the last to join Lord Tariq, the half-elf pole-master served as Beast Master for the Tariq family for several years prior and initially joined Saabr Tariq in exile before marching on Asifa to reclaim it. When his lord fell during the final battle, Garai surprised everyone when he surrendered and bowed to the new lord of Asifa. Noting his prior loyalty as well as their personal history, Carden appointed him to his Malikesh... though Garai had his own reasons for his actions.
Lord Tariq: The son of Saabr Tariq, sultan of Asifa and high paladin of the Order of the Twins. He was on the path to follow in his father's footsteps when his childhood friend, whom was thought dead, returned as a vampire. Torn with heartbreak between having to slay her or join her, Carden ultimately chose the latter and usurped the throne of Asifa shortly afterwards.
Malikesh Nefertari: A mercenary commander who led a sizable group of sell-swords calling themselves the 'Swordbreakers', the great weapon specialist proved pivotal in holding the city during the war on the side of the vampire and was given a place among the Malikesh afterwards. Without the old lord's rule, mercenaries such as her group were given much greater freedom within the kingdom... so long as they remembered to whom they owed it all to.
Malikesh Abuar: A necromancer from one of the nomadic tribes, Abuar appeared only a year before the war to warn the vampire about his father's advancing forces. When questioned about his motives, he simply replied that he knew where the future of the kingdom lay and acted accordingly. With his devastating magics, the bronze dragonborn proved his worth and was appointed to the Malikesh... to the chagrin of the rest.

Asifa and the Shimmering Sea are something of a callback to ancient Egypt. All characters belong to me for Dungeons 'n Dragons.
