This Insurgency selection is based on a thought: what if the Marvel Universe was also a part of Injustice? Batman meets Captain America after the First Avenger saves him from a Regime attack in New York City, and the two join forces to take it down. To that end, they enlist Spider-Man, who believes great power comes with great responsibility, The Thing, who wants to stop Superman so that the orphans in Yancy Street can have a better and brighter future, and the mutants Wolverine and Deadpool, who are forced to team up despite their differences. Starfire, who survived the nuke and is disgusted at what her former friends Cyborg and Raven have become, also join up as does Plastic Man and Static. For brains, Dr. Otto Octavious, better known as Dr. Optopus, was busted out of a regime jail for not siding with the Man of Steel.

During the war, the insurgency's deeds gets the attention of a long-lost superhero called Birdman, who joins to free the world, seeing how the regime recruits Space Ghost as their last resort.
