I love the big "brush" strokes. I love when people take digital and make it look traditional. I'm trying to teach myself how to do that so I love seeing good examples and this is a good example.

haha thank you so much! i really enjoy working like this, it's really relaxing sometimes to have the flow and freedom of painty strokes without the worry of traditionally mixing wrong colors or smudging something heh. also i use a fairly neat set of traditional brushes--would you like them?

Why yes I would! Thank you! I like experimenting with new brushes but I've yet to find a set that feels natural for me and gives me the strokes I want.

yep! it's always good to try out everything you can and see what fits into your flow best.
ok so here's a list of awesome pro's brushes --i really like ditlev's and jaime's for traditional feel. mathias's brushes are pretty neat too, if you're looking just for some sweet shapes!

His cheeks are so good ahhh you have learned to color skin really well kiddo. (why am I calling you a kiddo when you are my age? because I am lame)
He looks like he's been abused to me, I dunno. Just the red cheeks and the sad gaze. You've really done a great job in taking a reference and doing a study but still making it your own! There is so much more emotion being conveyed in this than the photo - the colors are working so, so well. Blended just right. The picture doesn't make me want to cry or make me think abuse - but this does! I think that's great. You are getting so skilled gosh I need to work harder or I'm never going to be able to do anything. You inspire me, darling.
