Well I finally finished my mesh portrait a few days ahead of schedule! This was a challenge, I've seen some really realistic faces from illustrator and decided I would give it a shot. The face, except for the eyes, is a single mesh. the chest and shoulders are also one mesh. The hair is a crazy mix of subtle gradients and flat colors.I hope you all like it, let me know what you think. I really appreciate the feedback!
100% illustrator, except I output a PS file from Illustrator and shrunk it down in PS then output for web, as I do in all my illustrations.

This is incredible. We just got into vector portraiture in my class and this is really inspirational, although I doubt I'll be delving into mesh just yet. Again, really incredible piece here.

its very nice and gorgeous work u have job..... i very much inspired and i started learning about mesh gradient ...... i also started with portrait of a boy.. and believe me great results.. thx for sharing

The realistic stuff I do in illustrator is with the Gradient Mesh tool. You are right, it is VERY time consuming...
