Description KARNEIA SCULPTURE
Material: 22 gauge mild sheet steel
Process: Cold Forging
Tools: Hammers, anvil, steel stakes
Size: 22" tall

This sculpture has a very special place in my heart. It has been a wonderful collaboration with the model. This piece in many ways was building off of the pose and sculpture that I developed in the Laurel piece [link] [link] . However, the Laurel piece lacked something. In my mind, I was shooting for a certain fluidity and dynamic movement that the Laurel piece lacked. Though still beautiful, I felt like the Laurel piece was still a little rigid in its pose.

And so Karneia was the next step. While working with the model (who was wonderful to work with and deserves as much credit for helping discover the pose) we went through many iterations and variations of this pose until we arrived here, and I think we finally captured the fluidity that was lacking in Laurel.

i believe both pieces have their sence of fluidity more so with this one because my eyes are directed from head to toe the other piece id say is fluid from toes to breasts. then the sharp angles of the arms and head keep the viewers eyes at the top. both pieces are beautiful and convey a certain emotion to me. Id like to say [link] is my fav tho. i quite like the pose its very dynamic and strong pose.
