Definitely not your average gryphon. This one seems more gothic. I love the beak, the snakey feathering at its cheek, and the whip-y tail. I am reminded, strangely, of The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce.

The beak seems a little strange. It wouldn't be able to use it to tear stuff up like birds of prey usually do.
That, and perhaps the already said issue of the small wings, is the only thing I find that isn't quite as good. And believe me, the rest is GOOD![link]

[i was just watching a show about how scientists think the greeks and roman got their ideas for their creatures of myth, and they said there was this specific dinosaur that had a beak and a bone structure that raise above its spine that made a flap like a stegosaurus and they thing they misinterpereted the bones as wings and came up with the gryphon]
