this picture is beautiful. i keep seeing pictures saying they've been shot with an infrared lense. if you wouldn't mind, could you explain what that is? :]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MichiLauke In reply to ashleytheHUNTER [2008-09-18 13:26:26 +0000 UTC]

I use a very strong no name IR Filter (950 nm - about 20 Euro - ebay) which totally absorbes visible light plus Grey Filter (2x, 4x, 6x) if necessery. You can use also a Hoya 72 IR-Filter (720nm) if you want to combinate visible and IR Light. Of course you have to use the night shot modus of the F828. I make my pics in the P (not in Automatic) Modus because then I can have all the time 64 ISO. In the Automatic Modus ISO goes automatically up to 200 ISO and more which makes the pics to much grainy...

Now you know all my IR secrets!

great photo my friend! my canon 20d have "too heavy" hot mirror and i can't make really good IR photos

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MichiLauke In reply to litauh [2007-05-18 19:04:17 +0000 UTC]

I saw somewhere in the internet a building discription how you can remove the inner sensor infrared lock. I have also a 20D but I myself never would try to remove this lock because I do not want to 'destroy' my 20D. Canon has built a special 20D for astro fotography where you can remove this inner ir-filter.

For my ir pics I use my Sony F828...

Thank you so much for all the many :+favs: ! and good luck for your ir photos!!!

amazing photo, especially coming from an F828 - I have one of them and it's kind of tricky when it comes to IR photos for some reason

may I ask what grade and wavelength filter you are using?
