Description In the Western Interior Seaway that covered the Great Plains of North America during the Cretaceous, a giant hybodontiform shark Ptychodus attacks a giant ammonite Parapuzosia. Unlike many other sharks of its time, Ptychodus’ jaws were filled with plate-like teeth adapted to crushing and crunching hard-shelled prey including mollusks and crustaceans, similar to modern bullhead sharks. These teeth, along with it’s great size at 30 feet long, allowed the shark to tackle even the biggest and toughest hard-shelled animals like the 9-foot wide Parapuzosia.

I heard that Parapuzosia is the heaviest cephalopod. Is that true? By the way it looks beautiful.

Thank you! And I'm not sure but with that enormous shell I wouldn't be surprised of it wasn't!

You're welcome, probably, especially since there are 2 species that I know of, P. bradyi and P. seppenradensis, with P. seppenradensis being the biggest of the two.

I legit just use blue papermate pens! And I'm not too sure how I'd describe my shading methods to be honest

Ptychodus wasn't a hybodontiform, but rather a neoselachian based on its calcified centra and triple-layered enameloid.
