Description
It was late at night, the eerie part of the dark, where each pawstep felt like an eternity, and every noise makes your fur raise at the back of your neck, this is the time the tyrant of the Pridelands, Scar, felt most comfortable. But on this night, he had duty on his mind.
Scar had realized something, something that sparked a plug in his brain, and got him thinking. He felt dizzy. Why did he feel so queasy and dizzy? Why did he feel so...sick? Was it because of the shortage of food? Perhaps. Was it the drought of water? Possibly. All these things could be it, but Scar knew this wasn't why. Guilt. It was eating him from the inside out.
Scar looked down at his claws, at the tip of each was a smidge of red...blood red. No one else could see it, but himself. He knew what it was, who's it was. Mufasa. No matter how many times he tried to scrape it off, it would never come off. It might as well been engraved on him. He tried to hold himself up, but he was too weak. He collapsed on the tip of pride rock, letting his paws hang over the side. Tears slipped out his eyes. He threw his head back, and called out to the night sky. "Brother! Brother! Are you there?"
Suddenly, a swarm of clouds circled around, then formed a ghostly figure, which was obviously his brother, Mufasa. The sight of him made his stomach ache. He could barely speak past the lump in his throat. It ached, and brought even more tears to his eyes.
"Brother, please forgive me! I cannot. I lied. I cannot lead a pride like I thought i could." he gestured out towards his kingdom. "Look at the grass! It has wilted, thus no more prey. The shortage of water has lead us to dehydration! Our lionesses shouldn't be able to last another moon! I-I can't go on. I thought I could...but...," He couldn't even hold the weight of his own head, his neck was aching. "I..." He looked up at the ghost of the king. He had not said a word. He just stood there, with a subtle smirk.
"Is that all you can do?! Look down at me, your brother, as I lay practically dead?"
The ghost furrowed his brow, and gave a low bellow, "Is that not what you did, when you threw me off the gorge, Brother?"
That was all. He turned around, and vanished. Scar's head fell into his paws, and he wept that whole night. When he awoke, though his face and eyes ached from crying so hard, but he had an unusual spring in his step, and sudden energy.
Coincidentally, that next night, Simba had came.
