Description
This is a Redback spider. They're Australian native and when they are in danger the red stripe on their back flares up. I hate spiders but they make such an awesome macro subject. My camera can hardly handle macro but I'm pretty happy with this one. Blur added in Photoshop.Related content

I found out that Chips is a redback. Apparently the males aren't even black, they're brown with white speckles.

Wow. Where did you learn that? I thought they were black and red but flat. I remember my Nanna telling me that the girl eats the boy after they have sex. I think I was probably 6 when she told me. I had no idea what sex was.

I love how there's only a hint of web in there, just enough to give a sense of wht the spider's doing but little enough to make it look as if he's flying towards the other spider.
