Description This is my copy of the famous masterpiece painting Napoleon on the Bridge of Arcole, by Baron Antoine-Jean Gros. During the entire 18-week semester of my class THIS IS ALL I DID. PLUS 90% OF MY TWO-WEEK BREAK. But I'm reasonably happy with the result, and I learned a lot. We say that he's not actually Napoleon, because he's so much handsomer (partially my fault) but that he's Napoleon's stunt double. It's 28" x 40" inches, sized up by about 1.2 from the original.
I built the frame, hand-stretched the canvas, (and got canvas burn so bad that a layer of skin on the outside of my thumbs got scraped off) primed it, gridded, sketched it, and spent the rest of the time painting. I used Basics acrylic paint and my painting teacher's eyes (haha)
