I've seen this movie. It's not the best, that's for sure. But...I don't find it to be a BAD movie. It just could have been a bit better.

Part of the problem is that they had to cram so much story in a 90 minute movie.  If Marvel and Toei had a deal to make a TV series for broadcast both in Japan and Western countries, I'm sure the plot would have slowly bloomed much better.  But if there's two things I legitimately like about the movie it's the art direction and the music.  You can tell there was at least effort on that part.  I'm a sucker for that early 80's Japanese art trying to look Western asthetic, and I'm glad that Marvel and Toei still partnered up for G.I. Joe, Transformers, and even Muppet Babies.  And I just hope when the MCU Blade movie happens they reference the Dracula eating a cheeseburger scene.  I was pretty disappointed they didn't in that one episode of Marvel Super Hero Squad, where you'd expect it.

I finally saw that movie a few years ago. And I have to say, its pretty bizarre. Even for the time.

For me, it switches between amazingly stupid and incredibly boring back and forth.  I agree with the guy who always shows it at conventions, I'm actually too scarred to read the actual comics this was based off of.  I'm in wonder of what Marvel and Toei could have done if the partnership amounted to something beyond this one movie, two Sentai type shows, and having them be their main outsource animation provider for Marvel produced cartoons in the 80's.  But yeah, I always wonder how they would have fucked up Blade if they included him in that film.  I'll give it this, though.  I love the "we're trying to look as western as possible" look of the special completely unironically, and the music is actually quite good.

While I agree that the film itself was pretty bizarre and lackluster, I'm sure the comics make more sense than the movie does.

So this is based on an anime movie that came out in the 80s? Wow. Never even heard of it until now!

Dracula's burger eating is not as random as it might seem. The movie in question is based of the Marvel Comics story-line where Dracula went to hell and was "cursed" by Satan to be human, while he was trying to find a way to re-vamp he did succumb to mortal hunger and tried a burger, he found he didn't like cooked meat, being a vampire apparently leaves you with a taste for rare-done.

Oh, nice cartoons BTW.

I share the sentiment of the presenter of the Bad Anime panel. I'd like to actually read the Dracula comics, but the movie scared me away from ever wishing to do so.

It's probably a good comic, just a bad adaption. And also note, I spared everyone the "Can has cheezburger" joke

I'm in the opposite situation; I've read the comics but have been put off seeing what is unanimously reported as being a terrible adaptation.

The comics weren't fantastic or anything, but Dracula as a human was quite interesting as he remained arrogant and vicious and determined to regain his power as a vampire, rather than being guilt-ridden and cherishing his regained humanity and all that sissy-stuff you'd get these days.

Good job on the restraint with the "cheezburger" thing.

The vampire or the guy who is selling burgers?

Because I don't know about the former, but the latter is Bob's Burgers (which is actually pretty funny).
