Being honest, I have the same feeling with you, but it's the author's right to write stories. Also, tragedy is an essential part of the story which makes it whole, even though it feels bad for both author and readers (Writing tragedy is really hard, even a torment. However, when I look back, it always make story more beautiful. So, in my opinion, for excellent stories, tragedy is indispensable, but they can still have happy endings.).
