Copy from Xi Guang Zhou's still life for practice purpose. Original work is far better, nonetheless, I'm happy with my version

The trick is to use little water on a dry surface. Sorry for the late response. I appreciate your comment very much

oh !! but there are lots of lovely new works !! brava Milbisous !!! what a lovely surprise !! I loved the rose, and now I discover all these ones !! you DID work hard, silently and tenaciously !!! I like this nature morte, with nice thick shadows, and I like the idea one can see only a slice of the table cloth that falls down, it gives a good harmony to the composition.

Madame likes to look at paintings that inspire her to talk endlessly!!!

Alas, I went to the store last night and they had no beautiful round grapes and no ripe round colorful peaches for me to buy and eat. Your painting made me and I had to eat instead!!!

Hehe I really like this one. It's not so much of a story in it though, but I enjoy your painting style and soft and warm colours shaped by similar strokes.

It's watercolors. Sure I will choose my own composition next time. I'm now just practicing. I was so amazed to see, for the first time, watercolors painted on an easel.

Those peaches look quite tasty...

Your artwork is beautiful! And the fact that this is in watercolors is shocking!!

milbisous In reply to ShinjiSaigohakai [2006-10-24 16:13:17 +0000 UTC]

I was when I first saw my workshop teacher's watercolors too, so amazingly pretty and the colors looked so rich that they looked like oils. It's now my hope I will be able to do...the same But I'm happy the way I painted made the peaches look tasty to you, and do the grapes look...sour to you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShinjiSaigohakai In reply to milbisous [2006-10-24 21:46:50 +0000 UTC]

Not really, the grapes look quite sweet. But maybe because sour is most likely associated with the color green... but that's just me. I feel just the same way about my art I teacher at school. He was working with such a tiny canvas and he was painting a copy of this one piece in his artbook and had managed to get it correct color by color so the objects in the painting almost became 3D. o_o;

milbisous In reply to ShinjiSaigohakai [2006-10-25 02:46:41 +0000 UTC]

It was just a joke that I gave this work the title "Sweet Peaches and Sour grapes". My mind suddenly thought of sweet and sour, and there's that expression "sour grape"
