Description That which we bring into this world is just gonna take on a life of its own . . . it just will. This is my take on how the story line of the legend more likely unfolded; not pessimistic; just more likely.

I could finally bring myself to find a favorite picture in your gallery. I think there will be others .... Hats off for your work. (Excuse my bad English)

mahalo, Jojo. wow, that was one of my earlier ones. i noticed that your Jean-LΓ©on GΓ©rΓ΄me had done some work using the same subject; albeit, i sort of had a different take on the outcome. perhaps i'm just not as romatic as you French. i find i've become a bit more cynical as i've grown older, brah.

btw, your English is fine. truth be told, mine is not necessarily that good, either! . . . and is the only one i'm any good at.

reality does often have the unfortunate habit of not paralleling our dreams...
think that's the reason more and more it seems I find it harder to waken.

Nice work IMHO.

. . . or could just be 'cuz we're gettin' older, brah. same here!

i was thinking of my own kids when i did this one. no matter what we hold as our hopes & dreams for them, no matter how well we think we've raised 'em, they're going to go out into the world and be whoever they choose to be. can just hope & pray they choose well.

Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw?

MililaniMak In reply to MrNoxx [2011-03-26 22:01:56 +0000 UTC]

the original myth, more actually, which was the basis for the play by Shaw . . . see [link] (mythology).

in the myth, Pygmalion winds up marrying the beauty he had sculpted, after Venus turned her & Cupid gave her a kiss an' a ring, etc., an' they even had some keikis bumbae. but, according to the myth, Pyg wasn't originally even interested in women. (hmmm . . . Greek sculpters, ya know). and anyway, da way i see 'em, after a few days stayin' w/ol' Pyg in his meager sculpter's digs, etc., and taking a good long look at herself, she figured she could do mo' bettah, an split, leaving poor Pyggie trying to figure out what just happened.

anyway, i added a peacock as texture as a nod to Shaw (Victorian period, and all) since that's the way most folks know the story. The movie "Pretty Woman" is based on the same myth/story line. is how i explained this one to Mrs. Mak.

Explaining hot blonds in your art to the Misses Mak is a good and safe thing to do bruddah Mak!:Lmao:

Very well done, beautiful and the subject is great dear Mak.
Bernard Shaw is my favorite play writer of all the times.
I really love your work a lot

mahalo, Canan. somehow i knew you would get this one. my wife likes it too, but i had to explain it to her: she doesn't know the mythology, but when i told her it was the basic plot for the movie "Pretty Woman," then she got it.

aloha!

You could tell My Fair Lady, too. We are old enough to know that movie.
Oh Pretty Woman was so beautiful. I love romanic comedies so much. Especially Meg Ryan movies.

mrs. Mak doesn't know My Fair Lady. (she grew up in the Philippines countryside . . . no movies, or even electricity, there during that time.)

I am sure Mrs. Mak is a beautiful lady
Philippinian women are so beautiful.
Also your daughter I suppose

yes, they are, Canan. fiesty, too. she's from the Waray-waray people of Samar. songs are sung over there about them following their men into battle. (folks was always mentioning that to me when we were engaged.) is good thing i like fiesty women.

is one picture [link] of her in my gallery if you want to see her. there's a manip [link] in there, too, of my son. nothing, yet, of my daughters, but give me some time . . .

aloha
