Description Red was always one of my favourite characters from the Final Fantasy series, and when I found Wacker00's awesome bead art (link below) I had to try to draw it.  I screwed up his flaming tail, I was colouring the sky and before I knew it I had accidentally coloured around the whole tail.  But other than that, it was good practice.

As always, feedback, critique and advice are greatly appreciated.

*Drawn and coloured in around 5 hours as part of my 10,000 hour challenge (See my DA page for details).
**Pic taken on a camera phone (Sorry no scanner)
***This is based on a wonderful peace of bead art by Wacker00, that can be found here:

Hello!

My only thing is the shadows and lighting.

For instance, the shadow under Red should be similar to the rock by him, in my opinion. The direction the moonlight is hitting him wouldn't cause a spotlight shadow. I also think there should be a little more fire light on his booty, glinting on his anklet, and somewhat on the ground. I would add a bit more moonlight to the top of the tail as well. Compared to the rest of his body, the tail seems a little flat.

Also, you made an excellent recovery with the tail, and overall Red would be proud. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Hope that is helpful!

i thought this was unfair mainly because there was a direction you seemed to want to take in creating this what i see is that you wanted to stay true to what this version of final fantasy is so by adding the type of shadow you did i dont seem to find any mistake in that.

and when it come to originality the way your style presents itself to me is very original the way you use color and the way you use shading etc i think that you knew what you were doing when creating this i know it is fan art but the way you have created this in your own interpretation is very well executed

i think you did a fantastic job on this creation and i am sure you know that there might be areas to improve on and i am also sure that you can see that in this creation just never stop and you will find yourself creating something amazing!! haha!!

id just thought id share what i thoughts about this!! you are a fantastic artist and never stop learning!!

At the overall picture, it seemed the direction he was taking had realistic shadowing/lighting. His shadowing wasn't a mistake, just slightly missed the mark with Red a little. Which is why I commented on that.

i understand i have a hard time seeing it in a realistic sense it seems more comical to me which is a very good thing knowing that it is a final fantasy thing so i think the shading is perfectly suited for this creation haha yeah..id just thought id share my thoughts i dont want to be rude haha

i respect your thoughts as well i really hope i didnt sound mean at all hehe..

Thank you for taking the time out to critique me, you have given me lots of feedback to take on board!

I think I got a little daunted about leaving my comfort zone with the shadows, and ended up taking the 'easy option', it is certainly something I need to practice.

I'm glad you found the critique helpful! It's ok to hold back sometimes, in my opinion. There are things we make that if we add too much too soon we can't fix it. Definitely try to leave your comfort zone. It's kind of funny you mentioned that because, I make a list of stuff I haven't ever made/need to work on and I work on them when I've got an art block Sometimes when I don't haha.

Thanks for the follow!
