Fanart for the amazing anime Gankutsuou! And bwah, I spelled that right my first try. That is a feat, let me tell you.
This was another picture done for and inspired by . She introduced this show to me, and even let me borrow her DVD's (only for me to procrastinate horribly while having them.)
For those of you who aren't familiar with Gankutsuou, it is an anime adaptation of Alexander Dumas' famous story "The Count of Monte Cristo." I can't say how far it goes with integrity issues - I daresay Dumas didn't have battling in giant robots in mind, nor did his count have blue skin - yet, it is an enjoyable and creative watch. I highly recommend it. Here I have the Count and Haydee. Let me tell you, trying to imitate those patterns and backgrounds was a pain in the butt, but interesting nonetheless.
Now, for some technical information:
Medium: Inks, Watercolors, Colored pencils, Gel pens - anything I could get my hands on, really.
Time: This consumed my life for about a month. I try not to think about how long I spent on it. *shudder*

Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo was one heck of a anime show. Have to feel sorry for certain characters, though.

Amazing job! reminds me a bit of the style used by that famous japanese painter...he did concept art for the final fantasy games and Vampire hunter d. Nice use of colors, im downloading the show now.

Absolutely beautiful work. The colors and shapes are well defined and bright. the texture reminds of ancient Japanese works(maybe you were going for that and here I am stating the obvious). I love the light work in this too, it makes the image pop out at you. Out of everything I had in my devwatch inbox today, this is certainly the best.
