I think you're misunderstanding, but I probably should've been more specific ^.^;
I'm saying, why bother arguing about it? There's no point in it. It gets so irritating hearing people gripe about "Oh gosh, why'd this get a DD? It's so stupid." or "My work's better than this crap, why wont it get a DD?". To be honest, going around saying things like that is rude, especially to the artist who got the DD without even asking for it. It was given to them.

So yes, it does matter what ends up as a DD, but do we really have the right to put down the artist for something they didn't ask for? It doesn't matter, it's already happened. Sitting and complaining isn't gonna change the fact it's a DD, whether someone likes it or not. If they have nothing even remotely respectful or nice to say to the artist, they probably shouldn't say anything. ^.^;

I wasn't putting down the artist at all. I was expressing my dissatisfaction with the way DA grants DDs, and I wasn't expecting any change to happen. I'm not mad at all and I actually enjoy a good debate if you want. It's not fair when a simple shot like this that doesn't really take any technical or artistic skill gets a DD (though I'm not saying it's a bad photo). There are people (such as myself) who put their all into their art and aren't bad, but yet are at the bottom and only get a few views per deviation.

Not entirely true.

I've seen artists practically beg for DD's before, and they were handed them simply for begging.

Not trying to argue or be mean or anything, just wanted to point out the flaw in your argument.

Hmm… I have no right to argue back, for I've never seen it happen before. Though, I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I'm sincerely sorry if I'm being a nuisance here D:

I'm not gonna say if you're right or wrong. And oddly enough, with how DA's been lately, I can honestly see beggers being given DD's. Though, I never actually knew it could happen.

Trust me, I've seen it before.

Right after a favorited a piece once and commented on it, the artist of the piece said "Hey, now go tell one of the mods to make this a DD"

And I was like:...... -_-
umm, ma'am, this is NOT how you ask for DD's.

i mean yeah, art is hard work and shit, and I understand why people make such a big fuss over it.
Hell, tbh, I hate art mostly XD I might even quit it soon, it's been giving me too much grief being in a community where I notice people with better artwork than mine getting more attention, while I try my best and can't even draw so much as a circle.
I'm trying to be more a writer, but personally I hate that too XD
(I've already had a little troll asshole come to my page and spam emotes of shit on it, just to show me how much they thought of my "artwork")
I've just come to the conclusion that I'm no good at anything XD

But, to what some great artists have said I believe is that it's the journey that counts.

So, I guess it annoys some people how they art thieves become famous on here, for artwork they didn't make, or simply are mad at artists who are popular on here yet have their artwork deemed as "unworthy" by many.
(thought they don't have a right to judge, they don't know how much work the artist out in to making that)

I'm sorry people have given you a hard time! I still have it rough from time-to-time for my art. I used to get bullied a lot here actually. By now, I write and draw (mostly as stress relief, I go through a lot of crap.).

My stories used to get a lot of heck, and I quit for a long time because people hurt me with their insensitivity, same goes for my drawings. But I've learned you just gotta trudge on and ignore those people who put you down~ It's hard, but if art is what you were interested in doing, you should continue. Not let others make ya hate it c: Know that every artist is or once was in your shoes. Don't ever say you're not good at anything /o/
The journey is what counts, but journeys are never easy. But, they are very rewarding at times~!

It is unfair how art thieves can become popular. It's really sad when a person is looked down upon simply for being popular. (and you're right, they don't have the right to judge.)

I'm going through crap at home too :\

I quit art for 2 years when one of ym closest friends *who was AWESOME at art*
Personally said my artwork "sucked".

I really don't think the statement about every artists experiencing stuff like this is true.
I've seen some rather egotistical artists practically boast their achievements as great.
*I've met far too many of them on here myself*

Sometimes, but not all the times are journeys rewarding XC
