Description
For me she was more important than life itself.
I had been living in a small royal province for few years after my village and parents had become ash in the raid. I was constantly stealing just to survive. And when I did get caught my powers started to emerge, violently. I thought I had become possessed myself for those who did attack me always wound up dead. I first met My Lady Midori in the early spring, with me eating some fruit of hers that had been placed on the ledge of her balcony. I didn't know whose it was, nor did I give a damn either. She actually is one of the few to have ever snuck up on me.
"If you are still hungry, I can get more." and I looked away from the fruit to her, with my heart racing. I didn't want to any more damage than I've already done but to have been offered more of anything was unknown to my person. She couldn't have been older than nine at the time which would have made me twelve. "do you want more?" She inquired with a small smile and I merely nodded, not knowing what to do in such a situation.
That began some of the happiest years of my life. I was taken in by her family to be one of her personal ninjas. I was trained, learned to control my powers, even learned to read. All while experiencing her kindness that still makes me feel unworthy to this day. Even our harden earth softened itself beneath her feet. Though she was strong in her love, she was frail in her body. When sickness struck her, it struck her hard. I barely moved from her sides when she took ill. I couldn't bear seeing those lively green eyes trapped in paling skin.
I was a mere sixteen year old fledgling when she passed away. A neighboring province wanted a union with ours and that ultimately meant a marriage was going to happen. A union, hah! Just another grubby hand to grab at more land. But my lady gently chided me and expressed only the best of wills onto the wedding. I wish with all my heart it had she had been right. Despite the snow blowing around the land the ceremony took place and it was a massacre from within. I couldn't get to her fast enough. She had passed before she had hit the ground. Both sides suffered greatly and after watching her and everyone else get buried, I left with only a small tag of hers as my only memento.
