*Kanamm won #AnotherContestGroup 's contest and as a prize I donated a free commission. She said "fantasy portrait with colour and movement". This is what I came up with!! Apx 7-8hours work total. Very proud of it. (Also thank you to the people who gave me additional ideas on how to improve on this!!)WIP1:

Brushes are: CS5 | downloaded brushes from `DanLuVisiArt | given brushes from *T00xicpanda | flame brushes downloaded from ~SugarBreezy
Additional Credit Comments: The chain used for the background along with the "spots" are them from *T00xicpanda ~ I just wanted to credit that and thank her for allowing me to use them!! Other brushes of hers were used in making of the skin and the glow behind the character and the skulls (not the flames). Also the chain on the ear was hand painted by me, and then I discovered the chain brush (not sure why I didn't think of that lol).Update: I am allowing full size download for desktop wallpaper use only.

I dunno, never did like it that much. I find it more for what its name is for "photos" like editing stuff. But if one is good at coloring pics, good for them, you know? XD

I just use Sai, I find it easier. I have used PS in the past for coloring but wasn't to my liking. Why I never tried to learn any more form it. I just know an few basics and left it as that.

The hair is cool. How did you do IT?

Hello and thank you and your colouring is brilliant!!Β
As for the hair.
1. Base colours ~ using a fluffy CS5 brush (I believe it's brush 5) I coloured in a base colour of which I wanted the hair to be (darkest shade).Β I then went over and added rough highlights, lowlights and shadow.
2. Eraser ~ using the eraser I removed excess that I didn't want from the hair line.
3. I used one of `DanLuVisiArt 's brushes downloaded from >> danluvisiart.deviantart.com/ar⦠which has a lovely hair strand texture to it. I changed the opacity a various amount of times along with the colour.
4. I blured out the hair using the blur brush and repeated step 3.
5. I used the same brush but really quite small just to pick out finer detail and highlights.
6. I then went over using a layer and creating a layer mode (filter) set to multiply to add in shadow using that fluffy brush again.
7. I went over again using a layer and creating a layer mode (filter) set to either overlay or screen or something like that to add in highlight with that fluffy brush and then changed the opacity of the layer so it wasn't so 'full on'.
8. New layer again this time set to 'color' I painted on a general blue colour as that's the colour of the flames and then changed the opacity so the glow was reflected in the blonde hair.
9. I went back in the CS5 basic hard brush (I believe it's brush 6) set to extreamly small to add in fine hairs around the edges and some contrasting colours where needed.
10. I went over the previous steps just touching up here and there and changing any bits that didn't look right.
