Description This is my first monthy submission to

This page is a tribute to my grandma's attic and its wonders, which faced an unfortunate destiny when my uncle renovated the house around 10 years ago. All the books, clothes, toys, burned, and gone.

I don't remember much about the attic, I remember it was warm, the walls made out of wood, the floor covered in old rugs. There were a bunch of dusty old cardboard boxes lying around, books, shoes (you can find my favorite pair of red high heel shoes from the drawing as well), anything that you can image. I used to stumble around in the red high heels when I was a little girl.

I also remember that the daylight colored the attic with a warm yellow tone, that made everything seem as if they were almost the same color, especially the stuff that was covered in dust.

Every night I spent at my grandma's place, I heard *things* going on in there. I used to wonder what it was. Most of the sounds were too loud to be mice, even though that was my grandma's explanation when I asked. I always considered the attic to be the "kingdom of spiders", and that a huge spider woman lived there, and was responsible of the loud bangs and clicks.

love the drawing and the story! couldn't you save anything from the uncle renovation??? that's so bad, old things always brings memories with them and to burn them... it's a bit like burning the past!!

Unfortunately I was late. I had no idea of his intentions, and two weeks later I called him to check if I could pick up a few things from there and then he told me...

my gosh the detail! How long did this take you??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

misskeima In reply to SplitEnds [2009-09-19 00:15:41 +0000 UTC]

It took a bit longer than usual, because the paper was slightly bigger than usual, so the estimate is probably around 30 to 35 hours.

It was worth it though! such a wonderful piece! each square of lines in united with the rest in just the right way.
very impressive. I know for a fact that it's hard for me to stay interested for that long without getting fed up.
kudos to you.
