This was the first half of a scratchboard project from my Illustration class, and this is also a birthday present for my grandpa in arizona. I have to say, scratchboard is at the moment my favorite medium, and I think it's actually very philosophical to work with because once you start scratching away to make something, you can't turn back after a point; if you make a mistake, you can cover it up, but it's still there. Kind of like life. I'm rambling, aren't I? Okay, I'll stop hahaI used a reference for this from a nature magazine I found in class. This took a weekend to complete, with plenty of breaks in between.
