A passage from chapter X "Ascension" in Book of Storm, the holy text of the Church of Ororo on Earth-959:
"As a member of the X-Men, our beloved God-Empress Storm served valiantly alongside other like-minded mutants in their heroic efforts to protect both defenseless members of their kind, as well the humans that largely feared and hated them from all manners of threats. Yet, despite the love and admiration that she received from her fellow X-Men, Storm secretly longed for days of her youth, were tribes on the Serengeti plain of East-Africa worship her as a nature goddess for using her mutant gift of weather control to aid misfortune communities stricken with drought and famine. As protector of these unfortunate people, our Goddess was treated as the divine being that she truly was, instead of being regarded as a merely very powerful member of superpowered outcasts that were viewed as abominations by most of the world."
"It was this desire to be worship once more that pushed Storm to seize the opportunity to take unimaginable powers she rightly deserved. Responding to a crisis in a city known as New York, the X-Men discovered that one of their oldest and most powerful enemy, the immortal mutant Apocalypse, had through a mixture of science and sorcery, attempting to open a nexus point in reality. Through this focal point, Apocalypse would use its almost limitless energy to empower his already incredibly strong mutant powers to become the one omnipotent master of creation. One by one, all of the X-Men were defeated by Apocalypse unstoppable might expect for Storm, who seemingly perished when she used all of remaining strength to call a massive lightning strike, seemingly vaporizing both her and Apocalypse."
"The X-Men had barely begun to mourn their dear fallen comrade when suddenly, series of strange weather phenomena started to happen all around the city. Suddenly, a giant portal materialized in the bay, from which emerged fully alive Storm, towering larger than any human-made structure on Earth. Tempted by the unlimited power of the nexus, Storm had used her supposed ultimate attack on Apocalypse to claim it´s energy for herself. Experiencing impossible transformation as she was transported to a higher plane of existence, as the infinite energy caused her to die and then reborn over thousand times for felt like an eternity, until Storm's mind and body had been completely altered, infusing her with powers that enabled to bend reality at her will, turning her into a true all-powerful goddess. Displaying her new divine might upon returning to the mortal world by growing to a gigantic size suitable for the new almighty ruler of the universe, one of the Goddess's first acts was to pick up a great statue standing in the harbor like it was a children toy. Towering over her puny mutant teammates and millions of speck-like humans, Storm proclaim that her ascension to godhood was the beginning of new age, the Age of Storm. With a flicker of her hand, goddess Storm used a tiny portion of her power to call a massive tempest to wipe away New York, before building a new city on its ruins called New Ororo, which would serve as her capital as she assumed the title of eternal God-Empress of Earth, and from there, ruler of all cosmos."
Funny story involving the creation of this image. Originally my entry in the Giantessfan giveaway this time around was an "Into the Spider-Verse" themed image starring multiple alternative versions of the Wasp from Marvel Comics. But as months past without my entry getting picked, I grew more and more dissatisfied with the whole idea, feeling that my group of Giant Wasps lacked variety and mostly just blended into each other as most alternative versions of Wasp are simply Janet Van Dyne in different costumes, lacking uniqueness of characters such as Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Ham. So I enter a brand-new commission idea into the giveaway about mega giantess Storm rampaging in Manhattan, which also featured giantess versions of Rogue, Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, and Psylocke that were smaller than Storm, before deciding that their inclusion diverted the focus away from Storm and therefore the other X-Women needed to be cut out. So I updated all of the commission info for Sunday, the day where giveaway winners are chosen, expect the revised story for the image, which I was still fine-tuning. I had run some family errands that day. Therefore, I couldn´t complete the new story before the deadline, which I figured was ok because my entry had been in the giveaway for months without winning, and therefore delaying for one day didn't seem a big deal. Lo and behold, that was when my commission got chosen and resulting in my connecting the site administers as fast I could, who luckily allowed me to send the updated story without any problems.
UPDATE: Larger version of this image is now available.
