Description This amazing optical effect of the lunar eclipse on 15 June 2011 was achieved using an extreme wide angle lens. This combined with some misting and heaving due falls helped the camera to show what the naked eye could not see, the moon sitting in a shadow surrounded by a tunnel of the blue glow of Earth's light. Taken from Magaliesburg, South Africa.

Lovely shot.

When I first saw the thumb, it reminded me of the Russian missile/laser test from last year.

As for the lunar shots and eclipse.
This is one of the top five I've seen
