the worm thing is called a Driller. It's apparently a native Cybertronian species, I think...They were used for mining.

The Shockwave design used in TF3 isn't to my personal liking either, I'm not very fond of those forward pointing horns and the muscle-look but one can't say it's horrible - at least it's clearly Shockers, that is something I guess.

However the designs are the least of my worries with the TF movies nowadays - they lack basic story-telling qualities and common sense, at least the second one was a real tragedy. I hope the third one will surprise all of us but I have my doubts about it.

Did you forgot the terrible vertical insect-mouth thing under his eye? I BET it will move in the movie as he will speak. Move in a disturbing way. Though, well, it's probably still better than chicken Starscream. But still, meh.

Well, yes, I agree with you on that. Actually, I personally hardly like anything about these movies. I watch them only because it's Transformers, because I still hope the next one'll be better, and, well, it's probably the only Transformers universe that almost everyone around is familiar with. But as much story as there is, it's merely an excuse for blowing stuff up and special effects. There is little personality for robots (and most 'cons are merely incoherent screaming-growling animals) and too much humans. Also, teenager-comedy things, cannabis and dogs mating. Why, WHY?!! Actually, I don't like these movies so much I can rant all day about it.

I liked TFA though. So very much. Such a pity 4th season got canceled.

I also really enjoyed TF:Animated. First off, Corey Burton was AMAZING in it. The other VAs did a great job. Secondly, I prefer traditional animation a lot more than 3d stuff. TFrime is certainly not a horrible show but despite the involvement of Cullen and Welker (and those two rule like Corey), it doesn't have as much heart as TFA had. At least Steve Blum is Screamer is great (but I never doubted that he would steal the show after having played DoW II - cyrus was the best!), although Kenny was perfect in TFA.

The movies ... some stuff is cool but they are mostly a missed chance to me. And the more one gives a damn about the source material, the bigger the disappointing aspects seem.

I kinda like Starscream in the movies though - sure, the design sucks hard when you see him as an interpretation of Starscream but if you think of him as an entirely new character that wasn't proud of his looks, he's pretty cool in my book.

Yes, this. So much. I actually have troubles thinking of what I DON'T like about Animated. Even though I was all "What is this, TF as a kid kiddy-kiddy cartoon? That's a step back..." at first, after watching a couple of episodes (because of that crazy Blitzwing mostly, he was amazing) I got interested, and now I'm a huge TFA fan. Heck, I even got my hands on one of these Allspark Almanacs, which are not too easy to get in my country. The voices, the characters, the story, the humor, all the homages to other TF continuities - that's like awesomeness with awesomesause packed in awesome.
Talking about TFPrime, yes, I too think that this show lacks... something. I can't even tell what exactly. Maybe the soul, the heart, as you already said. It has potential to become interesting, but right now it's too "gunmetal grey" for me.
And movie Starscream, well, maybe the design is not so bad if we don't think of him as Starscream incarnation, but I personally think it's too disproportional.Too nuch bulk in shoulders, etc.

They do share a few similarities but I'd attribute it to being based on the same design.

Although the TF3 Shockwave has a rib-like chest and the massive arm is on the opposite side.

Anyway, good job drawing it.
Too bad Corey Burton turned down the job to voice him in TF3.

One can't hold it against him seeing how the TF movies are at best junkfood for the mind, although I have no exact idea what his reasons are. I'd love him to do it though as it would make me enjoy those movies much more.

Well, since this was done to ilustrate the fusion of classic TF looks with the movie aesthetic, I gave him fingers as in the movies all the TFs can morph their hands into guns etc. (pure magic) It was a logical fit IMO to give Shockers fingers but I would only have him have them in sequences where he doesn't use his gun. I certainly didn't do it just to disrespect his iconic look.
