Wow, that's awesome! I love how you did the background, and the hair and the clothes are just perfect. Just her fingers seem a bit thin, don't you think? Nothing bad really, just my observation

Thanks. It's possible the fingers are small or narrow, since I really went about painting them with little to no planning. I kind of eyeballed them and was really worried about them coming out the right dimensions at all. I'm actually happy with the way the came out given the willy-nilly approach I took.

Nothing wrong with that - they just look very elegant For me, hands are the hardest part to paint and I tend to complicate things to the fullest (which doesn't really produce the desired results anyway..). Wish I could paint anything remotely as good as you can in less than a month...

Don't sell yourself short. I still think you do textures way better than I do.

As for hands... I actually think they're surprisingly easy to do with the right brushes. I barely put any work into her fingers at all. They are little more than a few brush strokes. The main bulk of her hand took more work but it wasn't much more than mostly getting the lighting/shadows right. After that I lightly (low opacity) added some roughness with a pencil type brush.

Then again, I'm using Corel Painter so that might have a huge impact on the way I do things.

These are actually great tips - thanks! I use Photoshop but I guess it's not that different.. I think my problem is the approach itself and every time I look at your speed paintings I have to slap myself for complicating so much It's also very important to know when to stop..

Awesome work, and also I think it's essential that you've chosen a subject that compliments your style well.

damn that's quite the realism you got there. I really dig it. all of it. the hair, the water, the cloth, saaaweet.

Thanks, although I think there is too much 'soft focus' effect on her. I should probably go back and tone it down...

well in this case I feel it's appropriate, maybe not if she was a warrior in a dungeon or something, but for this particular scene it's neat.
