Did not do this kind of practice for a while. I seriously has some problems with orange hues, no matter how much I'd love to paint desert studies, I cannot. I cannot find the right values for it - picking the correct colour is always difficult for me, even without harsh saturation - so I was like time to turn toward the big guys. I especially love Edgar Payne's works, because he painted nature (a topic that is super close to my heart) and his colour using is just excellent, so I picked a nice desert scene from him, this one . All in all I am quite happy with the outcome, but it is far-far away from perfect. My version feels more flatter than his, even though I tried to push back and bring things forward to create some depth, but I did not succeed with that as much as he did. Also mine lacks of details, because I ain't have patience for that in a quick study xD Creating direction for rocks is also a bit wobbly here. It works on the thumbnail, but in the big version all that illusion just being lost, so I definitely need to work on that.

But on the more positive side It is a bit more accurate than my usual paintings - that grass patch is seriously off though - and not just that after putting mine onto the original, the middle of the cliff is seriously off. I didn't forget to flip the image during the painting part (even though it happened toward the end, but still progress!!! XD) And also realised these rocks are just boxes in one point perspective, so actually building this up was a bit easier, because I had a basic idea what the fuck is actually happening. Small victories, we have to enjoy them :3

This piece is still better than the prev ones! XD All I need to do is practice more. There is hope for me! XD

Ofc Edgar was much more experienced, trained and all in all skilled than me right now, so his piece ofc beats my version anytime, plus he is the original painter.

I added some clouds on my own, because why not.
