First time EVER trying to do a landscape and i'm telling ya now, probably won't attempt anouther, they're a killer. Anyway, not expecting commentaries, like I said, just a personal peice.

...no more manic than the rest of us. Whomever says that they haven't given this any thought at least once is lying! This is a beautiful piece,... true and beautiful!

lessons smessions

all lessons will do is show you how to do them the way someone else has chosen to do them.
all you need is experimentation and practice. I think you did a pretty kick ass job.
don't let someone alter your natural style by taking lessons, unless you don't care about that

That's it That. Is. It. Nooo way I can do art after seeing yours ~dies~

jkjk, i'll just keep practicing.
But really, I do absolutely love the feeling of this.
I stared at it for maybe 30 mins, just... Staring and thinking.

I love the capture of her falling movement, and how vast
everything is around her. PLunging deeper and deeper.. (flails arms excitedly)

I finally got my own wacom, but man... I find myself coming back to the mouse all the time. The pen is just too hard to control for me. Not that I ever do anything with either of them, but yeah. I think the only way i'd be good with a wacom is fi my mouse exploded, and i had nothing else.... Heck, even then, I'd prolly end up using the touchpad more than the tablet.

Mockery In reply to Nighthand [2005-06-19 17:50:30 +0000 UTC]

Hugs you! Finally someone just like me LOL. I feel the same, I know if I buy one, i'll end up never using it, I sketched like my 4 year old daughter with one of those things, mind you the pressure sensitivity would be an amazing touch, dont get that with a mouse, but heck, thats what layers are for..aww well...I may buy one some day, who knows.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nighthand In reply to Mockery [2005-06-20 02:46:51 +0000 UTC]

If you want pressure sensitivity to really work (at least in my experience) you practically have to hold the pen perpendicular to the tablet. That sorta kills the whole pen-feel to it right there... and then with a tablet you have limited space to work with (mine's only a 4x5 inch area)... anything more is far too expensive for a test or a casual artist like me.

At least one thing is good though, mine's a nice shiny sparkly blue....

and came with a graphics program i'll never use... (photoshop elements)

Astral-Deva [2005-06-19 12:25:28 +0000 UTC]

You use a mouse and paint like that? O.o Wow. A wacom isn't difficult to use ^^ I used mine for roughly a week and it became like second nature. Anyway wonderful scenery. The colors are beautiful, I love it, especially the clouds. Very dramatic. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mockery In reply to Astral-Deva [2005-06-19 13:38:42 +0000 UTC]

I swear I'm scared of them, I tried once on my fathers old wacom with his old Mac and did nothing but scribble like a 2 year Old...lol. I'll have to try it again, I get so many people telling me a mouse is a handicap and one can achieve sooo much more with a wacom...but old habits die hard (winks)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Astral-Deva In reply to Mockery [2005-06-19 13:52:44 +0000 UTC]

True ^^ I had been very leery of them as well, and most of my original pieces were done with mouse. Good ol'mouse ^^ I just started using the tablet tho and I like it. Of course to each their own If the mouse is more comfortable then I'd say stick with it, especially since your so fantastically talented at using it.

yea, I love the smudge tool too and can't stop using it. Damn addictive device tiz.
(tires to pry fingers off the smudge tool)
Try using more brush types with the smudge tool. That lightens it up more.

'Doesn't have a fantasy feel to it', are you insain?!
If this isn't fantasy then what is, I could make up a whole magestic story about this picture!
It's a really lovely picture, I love the colors and the way it looks all smeared and airy, a bit strange that the womans hair isn't all blowing back but I'm not picky ...Again really great picture

Undersignificance [2005-06-18 20:11:24 +0000 UTC]

Looks nice.. and dreamy. I like the mood of it and the feeling it represents.. the landscape is very wide and the figure is so small, that adds to the mood.
I'll say nothing about the smoothness this time because I'm afraid you might slap me.
