Painter and PhotoshopI've rethought how I'm going to depict the savages who are in prolonged contact with the civis. Given that the civis use the savages as a food and clothing source, those that do live in captivity will have shaved heads.
Edit: Finished. It's not perfect, but I'm happy considering that it's been so long since I've attempted something like this. I'm having to relearn quite a bit about figure-rendering and composition.

You do a really lovely job with atmospheric perspective. Your control over warms vs. cools, saturation vs. grays, and clarity vs. softness are all very carefully and intelligently controlled. The figures are all so naturally detailed, with the sort of curves and shadows you only see in lifedrawing classes.

XDDD;; I actually saw your Progress right before I posted this, but it was too late in my mind to think of another title. It started off as a progressive piece in my scraps. It shows some progress as far as the character relationships go. Eh. Nothing to be done about it ^_~.

The little savage looks very strange indeed without his...? her...? Her dreadlocks. There's something very inviting about her face, as though she's just about to speak and proclaim some marvelous insight for her listeners. I love the open landscape in the background - it adds weight to the scene as a whole. Lovely image, as always.

I do imagine that s/he has some insight as s/he's survived prolonged contact with the civis. S/He probably has a certain understanding of them and will be bringing that to the table. Whether the others listen to her/him or are capable of that remains to be seen.
Have you ever heard of the Allegory of the Cave, by Plato? I should probably post that in my journal eventually.

I think your single best accomplishment yet in refocusing with these new works has been the creation of that divine little savage on the left. Her/his (?) face is one of remarkable allure and body that of grace. She is singly captivating. I want to know her story...I am certain the others do as well. The tones in this piece are quiet as I imagine are the listeners of the tale. When are you going to tell us mollygrue? ...we are silent and listening too.

Shall I readjust my focus a bit ^_^? I want to tell individual stories eventually (I'd like to do that in a comic format), but I can't see myself doing that until the world is better "fleshed out."
I really like that one too though. He/She seems separate and knowledgable and accepting.

I actually enjoyed making this one. Usually, I find it a pain to work on a digital piece for more than a day, but I guess I've grown up a bit, or something.
There is a certain radiance in this, isn't there? I suppose it coincides with a kind of rebirth that I'm currently experiencing, so everything is peaceful in this piece at the moment. But, you can see chaos lurking around the bend. Such is life, eh?
