Description

Anyone remembers that Krypto cartoon? Always loved that show! I also don't really find fan art for it that often so I decided to do a quick drawing of my favorite character :b

Drawing is (c) me!

Can't say I'm familiar with the show, but it's a cute kitty, and that's okay by me.

Krypto is a fairly simple cartoon, it doesn't do anything wild and crazy but I adored the show as a kid and I always loved Streaky xD

I'll have to add it to the list of shows I need to look into, then. ^_^

:0!! Its got like a Hanna-Barbera look to it to. The intro theme is repetitive but it manages to stay in your head xD

Just a look? Is it not Hanna-Barbera, 'cause I actually thought it was based on the designs. ^_^

Just a look! Hanna-Barbera went down in the late 90s/early 2000s I believe. Krypto was made in 2005. So yeah, its just a nice shout out to the old school style!

Oh really? Well that explains why I never see new cartoons from them these days. Who owns Scooby-Doo now, I wonder? (I'm guessing Warner Brothers? I think they made the movies? I'll google it later when I'm not being so lazy. ) But yeah, that's nifty to make a callback like that to an older style. ^_^

Warner Brothers got rights to Hanna-Barbera stuff quite some time ago actually. Back in the early 90s when Cartoon Network was new, it was just airing already existing shows (Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Huckleberry Hound etc). I know HB did make new cartoons around that time that aired on CN (like 2 Stupid Dogs) but it wasn't until the late 90s, beginning with Dexter's Laboratory that they're consider CN originals. So I'm not sure why exactly shows like 2 Stupid Dogs weren't considered CN originals but that's kind of off topic lol

There's a Youtuber called Saberspark. I don't watch to many of his videos but I do like his stuff. He did a video called "What RUINED Hanna-Barbera" that gives a proper look at its history. I watched it a few months ago so its not to fresh in my mind but it could give you a better insight to what happened exactly if you're interested haha

And lol Krypto wasn't the only cartoon to have such a callback to its style! Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Evil Con Carne also had that art style callback as well! In fact the former cartoon featured classic HB characters such as Yogi Bear and Fred Flintstone

If I remember after work, I'll look that video up and give it a watch. I'm kinda curious, now. I mean, HB was a pretty big studio back in the day.

Now that you mention it, yeah, Grim Adventures did have that kind of look to it! Man, I need to get back into watching that. XD

No, I completely forgot. But I've got time now, once I finish replying to these messages, I'll look it up. ^_^

It was!
