Description
He had been on his way between one safe space and another, which he had scouted out before, crossing a plain stretch of desert, not unlikely Alsahra'Aleizam, only that it was smaller and the sand red, when a loud rumble startled him. Looking over his shoulder, he saw huge black clouds rolling in his direction, bringing a heavy rain with them. Only minutes after first noticing the approaching storm, rain was hitting down on him hard, droplets big and heavy as pebbles, drenching him in seconds. There was nothing Aslan could do about it, nothing in this desert that could be used as shelter, and he was wet already anyway, so sitting it out would gain him nothing, instead he kept on walking, his head bowed against the rain and wind. Just as a lightening struck somewhere in the distance, Aslan looked up and saw something white against the dark wet sand of a dune. Something else must have been as unfortunate as himself, caught in the storm, but the other creature had decided to huddle down against the sand, hoping the flank of a dune was at least a little shelter. No one to pass on an easy meal, he crouched low to the ground, slowly stalking in the direction of the white smudge in the darkness, hoping he wasn't seen yet. As he was close enough to try and pounce, Aslan stopped in his track. He could see now, that it wasn't a singular being, but two smaller creatures huddled against each other, what he was sure were two vayron puppies, one of them directly watching back at him. They were the first reoseans he had seen close up in a long time, the last time being when he watched Juvenya run, and disappear behind a corner, the thought causing his heart to lurch in pain. Relaxing the tension in his muscles, he slowly stood up fully again, eyes wide in surprise about his finding. Not wanting to scare the puppies, he tried to make himself as non-threatening looking as possible, before stepping closer. Lowering his head towards the two puppies, the one that had been staring at him touched her nose against his in greeting, her eyes wide blue pools with no pupils. She looked suspicious of Aslan, scared even, after all she must have watched him stalk closer, ready to kill them, but she showed a lot of bravery now. Her sibling was awake too, watching from behind her, but he looked surprisingly weaker when she did, almost sick. Looking at them so close up, Aslan could see they weren't fully white, and while it was clear in a way they were siblings, their base coats couldn't have been more different from each other, one a blueish green and the pupiless one a soft violet, the two matching in a comically way.
The rain kicked up a notch, coming down in sheets now, making Aslan feel like he would drown if he were to breath in too hard. Circling the two puppies to be on their wind side, Aslan sank down to the ground, close enough that the turquoise one was half covered with the long fur of his belly, extending a wing, to shield the little ones a bit more from the rain, even tho they were still thoughtfully soaked, but the least he could do, was to offer some shelter and warmth. He was surprising himself with this act of kindness, as he had thought thru all what had happened to him, his soul had grown cold and bitter, but maybe there was still something good in him, to be able to feel compassion for this fellow lost puppies.
Drawn out part of my story The Manticore - White Desert [Part 1]
It's from Aslan's pov, I just didn't felt like rewritting the part from the twin's pov xD
