This is a brilliant piece. The composition is great, and the rich colors work well in the background.

Wow -- I adore this concept. We've a finite span of time that we're able to use proactively and aren't always aware that we so often waste or otherwise toss it aside -- and, worse, we're entirely capable of controlling that outward flow (so, in other words, your grafting a faucet to that hourglass results in a damned impressive symbol). Overall texture is gritty and, uh...otherwise pretty much reflective of sand. Coarse but capable of brilliant vibrance in its inherent varieties -- kinda like life.

So...yeah. I like this a whole hell of a lot.

Love the in depth analysis, Derek. & you're really on the dot. YOU MAKE ME SO PROUDDD cause you don't just view it as an image but you do see the concept I'm trying to get across. That really means a lot. :]<#

Your submissions force me to think in such terms, thankfully. I mean -- hourglass with escape hatch? Giant flamingo of destructive destiny? That sort of stuff doesn't make immediate sense unless you're wasted.

I adore that you craft such careful conceptualization into your work; I've not seen many photomanipulations that combine surrealism with self-awareness and logic.

Me, too.

I don't mind the biting, really. My mouth is pickin' up whatever slack is generated by my hands.

That somehow doesn't sound quite tasteful.

OibyrdsDDs [2006-05-04 07:39:29 +0000 UTC]

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D. ARTIST OF THE DAY feature ! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure (and ALSO, to show off people who I think are undeniably talented in their own genre of art, REGARDLESS of their #'s of fav's or pageviews. I like what I like and sometimes artwork isn't featured in the regular DDs because it's popular all on it's own It's a shame, but the admins are only trying to be fair! ). Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! xoxo Sandi oxo

Very nice use of color. It sort of reminds me of a stained glass window, and I didnt see it until the full view, but I rather like the usage of the stitches on the horizon, holding the ground to the sky.

Great colours fits in the surreal theme.
It reminds me of some famous painting i've seen somewhere. Hmm...maybe a Picasso's.

Very much reminds me of Zdzislaw Beksinski with the colors and surreal imagery.
If you don't know Beksinski's work, here's a link.

Maybe it's just that I placed it there
