Description

For SlimyTongues of their character Reiji, a vampire bat. His proportions are close to what I am used to painting, put some of that Gothic zest in there too. So in general I can confidently say that this was very enjoyable, even if it took longer than I usually need for these small commissions!

I wanted to give the picture a traditional gothic vibe, so it had to have a certain rawness and soul in the natural environment with intense shapes and tonal shifts. And I thought it would fit well to make it a liminal time of day, caught between one world and the other, which causes unease. It's a concept that recurs in Gothic literature.
