Playing Alpha Sapphire I noticed that Zubat and Golbat could be found even in an entirely submerged cave that required a drill-mounted submarine to enter. This got me thinking of how the bats might adapt to the various places they can be found, leading to this. Originally I was thinking a bit more broadly; i.e. Sinnoh as a whole appears to be colder than the other regions, Hoenn has a distinct fire and water theme... but the other regions don't quite have as strong a climate theme and I ended up zeroing in on certain locations anyways. And Kalos ended up getting left out because what could I do with Connecting Cave?

And by the time I got around to this, "Pokemon Variations" became a thing. Hooray!
