Description As I watched my father leave
through the window in his ground floor room
I knew,
if I called out to him,
that he would not turn around,
and that it would be devastating,
and that it would be a beginning.

As I watched my lover leave
through the window in my second floor apartment
I knew,
if I called out to her,
that she would break down,
and that it would be glorious,
and that it would be the end.

As I watched my own door come into existence
on the roof of the last floor
I knew,
if I opened it,
that it would mean something,
that it would mean everything,
that it might mean nothing at all.

God help me, but I love dissonance.
