i have no idea which category to place this...~~~~~~~
seriously people! recolors are all over the place! its like the new trend, I am SICK of opening my account to lame-ass recolors of anime/cartoon characters, but by far THE WORST I've seen is the numerous Alvin & the Chipmunks (and other similar movies) recolors!! IT. MAKES. ME. SICK.
now some of you will say "don't like it, don't look at it", well its not MY fault this shit is on the recent page and finds its way into my inbox on a daily basis!
don't get me wrong, i LOVE opening dA every day and seeing he art on the recent page, even if is not all THAT good, i still like looking at it and appreciating the effort its creator put into it, even if i don't leave a comment on it or fave it.
recolors just don't work with me, they make me angry, pissed off, they make me fume in rage, HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE I DO WHEN I SEE THEM!!
dA is supposed to be for ART and ARTISTS, whether they were professionals or beginners with a load to learn, as long as they ASPIRE to be artists and create ART, they belong here. there are simply TONS of other websites where such things as recolors are welcome, just. not. here.

Really, because the only ones that i know of where such things as recolors are welcome was megaupload because megaupload was shut down due to copyright infrindgement, so now there is no sites where such things like that are welcome anymore, all of which it has been shut down, Do not post those recolors on the web at all cost.
Anyway, which of the website such as things like recolors and traced pictures are welcome? because the there is no websites that allow those stuff, as they are most likely shut down due to copyright infrindgement.

Sadly... I figured out recently why recolors even exist.
We all know of the all-famous Soup Can-making Warhol, right?
One of his most famous works is of one picture merely replicated with different colors and made into a masterpiece (hence recolors).
I ain't saying Warhol is bad but... that's kinda where it got famous.

and there is also lazy wannabes who find it much easier to alter professional work than make their own...

no, tracing does not teach you anything, asides from being lazy, while observing artwork you like and striving to draw better WITHOUT having to trace, that's how artists are born.

I completely agree. I will never understand why people keep making recolours and I am SO glad I stopped a long, long time ago. Every time I see a recolour, I want to throw up. D: It just outrages me! The most common ones I've seen are Sonic the Hedgehog ones, and it's just not right to steal official art like that, colour over it, and claim it as your own. This has got to stop and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.

i think people who consider themselves artist and ARE artists would all agree on that,
but it's not acceptable among people who consider themselves artists but are thieves in reality.
what pisses me off is that they form bully gangs against folks who reports their work, it's just so sick...

I know. It's all so wrong and down-right insulting. It's one of the worst things people could do on the Internet. And I hope the admins on here will take more action on it someday. I wish more people would stop recolouring for good like me.

Yes, there are even some recolors of other users' artwork, especially by just inverting the colors. Recolors of promotional artworks and screenshots from copyrighted media are the worst and most blatant infringement. And really, I think recolors are just worse than having a computer virus, plus I think they're even worse than having a disease. Again, I wish those recolors would stop spreading around on the Internet.

Recolors make someone somewhere out there happy so if you don't like them then just get over it like with all the other things in the world you don't like. just an opinion..

I'm not saying all recolors are right. In fact, most of them aren't. I only support alvin and the chipmunk recolors, because that's fan art.

oh, so the people who made the movie aren't considered artists, and it's ok to steal their work from the movie and recolor it just because the movie is on a wolrdwide scale and not something personal or relating o a single person?
and if it is really fan art, that would mean all recolors, except of original works by artists, are ok, because they are fanart, but its not, recoloring something that is not yours is wrong no matter what the condition is.

i agree i want to see real chipmunk artwork that people draw not recolerd pic's if them like the oc's it would be more crative if they draw it insteand of recolerd it i wanna see art thats why im in da for and i dont redcoler my pic i draw them but hey i thoght u can be band for doing that

Yea thanks a whole lot man for making this, I hate recolors. You know how people argue with you saying that re naming a clear Alvin pic and coloring over it is making it theirs ? yea NO !! Do your own art !
