"I just want to go home, with my sister..."

Wai x.x I was working on "Papillion Princess" (inkwork) and the lines were starting to choke me to death, so I took a break to draw something foot loose and fancy free. I ended up drawing Melanie, one of the main characters in a story my imagination has been cooking up (a pretty deep one too. O.o I'm scareing myself). This is a SERIOUSLY free handed sketch. O.o I only used a few anatomy lines for her arms, and that was about it. Everything else I drew just off the bat. When I draw like this, I often refer to my studies of my mentor, Naoko Takeuchi (Sailor Moon, Miss Rain, etc). Most people tell me my style is very much like hers, but that really only because I've practiced drawing to achieve her style... there was a time were I was all about it, but as I've grown up I've kinda matured away and started to develop my own styles, such as how I draw my hair and eyes... but my eyes vary XD

Anyway, like I was saying - This is Melanie. Nevermind the messy coloring, it was just to give you an idea of what her clothes look like. If you're wondering, she's wearing a tutu kind of skirt that's all messy and frilly and out there (more like the children's version of a ballarina tutu, I think. O.o I'm not a tutu expert XD). Really, her clothes are all black, but I made them grey so you could see the lines Her outfit is kinda racey... but at the same time not terribly revealing. It just has some sensual accents of lace here and there with the thigh-high stockings and stocking opera gloves. And that crown on her head is kick-arse isn't it? XD Well, I like it anyway... it's important to the story so NYAR!!

Melanie is an intense character. At first she seems like a very hateful, resentful person who dislikes anything and anyone with a passion. Very pessimistic and dark - perhaps even a little maniac suicidal at times (as in a "kill everything because life is pointless!" kinda thing o.o). But she does have a softer side. She loves her sister, Lesedi, who is also her twin, and would do anything for her (even if she won't outright admit it). She feels bad that Lesedi, who is the exact opposite of her and full of love and kindness to all, should have to waste her gifts in the world that they've lived in ever since they could remember. Later on she gets a heavy dose of "duty" and "justice" and that almost completely alters her personality... but she's still a tough cookie XD

Perhaps I'll draw Lesedi to complete this set... I like her hair XD Melanie's is so messy.
