What is it made of? My class is starting making animal heads later this week from latex. This is quite inspiring.

This is made from a paper mache base (I prefer resin casting mostly) which is cast over a clay sculpture I made of the mask. The nose is Milliput, the ears are real leather that have been attached by anchoring them with cotton tape and the eyes are buckram and ribena drink bottles :3

The way you've airbrushed the shadows and variation in colour onto the fur brings forward such stunning effect, giving it far more character and depth than what you might achieve with more basic techniques and plain fur. The proportions add to the stunningly realistic features, giving what I consider a perfect illusion of size, rather than trying to work the eyes and so on to fit according to a human's. Beautiful craftsmanship, I aspire to one day be working on costumes similar to the standards of your own.

Much of what I have learnt has been watching and studying various fursuiters and referencing lots of photos. This is actually the first fursuit head that I have made and you can reach a high standard by taking your time and sampling many methods on the side or as you're going a long(something my teachers hated since it meant I got nothing done on time lol). Thank you very much

What sort of costumes do you do? :3

What sort of creative course are you on, then? I've tried looking for something to join at nearby colleges but nothing seemed to suit...
I only really dabble in making things for fun, though would one day love to sell what I make. I've made a few medieval garments, which I wear every now and then as part of my normal attire I've made costumes for friends, fitted dresses, waistcoats and the like, but not yet anything too fancy. Most recently I've delved into making fursuits, which I think great fun - so far only the one completed head, though three more projects on the go and have made many a tail now I didn't have a clue what I was doing when I started out, and since I have an irritating need to strive for better, I've been working on more to try and beat my past efforts. Leaning as I go, of course - and yes, this time around I'm trying out methods before using them! I have great admiration for you and your costumes, they are truly beautiful. I certainly hope you're proud of what you make!

The creative course I was on was "Historical and Performance Costume for Stage and Screen" at Yorkshire Coast College in Scarborough which is the 2nd best in the country. The tutors are all people who have a lot of experience in costuming in the theatre and film industry (one has even worked on films such as Gladiator) and it is sponsored by people who are still working on big films. It is mainly a historical based course though they do encourage people to be very creative with their work. There is a 1860s dress I have made which I would post but I'm not happy with the photographs that is historically cut but has been designed to portray death. I would recommend the course to most people looking to do anything costume based however it was a extremely stressful 3yrs lol.

I like making fursuit heads I found, they are indeed fun to make though nervous about making a complete suit myself XD I took a look at your fursuit partial that you have made in your gallery and it looks really good, what method did you use to make the head and the ears? The tail looks really cute too! And thank you so much again ^^

What did you use for the eyes?

I used Ribena drink bottles for the eyes with black buckram behind them.
