What if...We couldn't lie?
Not to our friends. Family. Colleagues.
Not to the saleslady at the grocery store.
Not even to ourselves.
Would we be happier?
Would life be harder?
Or would we have better relationships?
The couples would say "yes."
But the 'good friends'? What would they say?
Would they cringe when they tell you
what they really think?
Would we keep secrets?
Or would we have nothing private...
Are lies like vitamins?
Essential to our health and well being?
Or should we oust them like cancer?
You tell me.

I like the boldface "Not even to ourselves." That was well placed. I'm a big fan of the idea of this. Honesty is hugely important to me, to the point where i'm an asshole because i'd rather be blunt than lie to one of my friends about something that will make them feel bad.

Some things, you can lie about. Like if you don't want to do a certain thing and there's a very viable reason - if you're a girl, you know what I'm talking about - and you don't want to make it awkward, then that's okay, but lying about where you're going, that's not okay.
But that is a very good thing to wonder about...It depends on if we can't lie, as in say something untruthful, or if we're forced to tell the truth.

people lie to protect. themselves, each other, others. sometimes it is taken to far, but i believe we can't help it and it IS necessary
